South End Congregation

hope community church charlotte nc

Community groups are where we integrate new visitors,  grow in our faith, care for one another’s mercy needs, pray and grieve together. Having multiple congregations allows us to create smaller, more intimate communities while also effectively collaborating on our shared mission and vision. We hope to be a gospel movement that redemptively impacts individuals, communities, our city, and the world. As a result of the overflowing that is taking place both into and out of Hope, we feel that the Lord is calling us to take intentional steps to continue participating in this great Kingdom work.

MAJOR SUPPORT FOR WFAE’S RACE & EQUITY TEAM COMES FROM:

One of the first things you’ll notice about Hope when you visit (other than the age of the congregation) is how relational it is. We seek to be a church where you can belong even before you believe. To that end we strongly encourage you to check out our community groups. Hope was founded with a mission to reach the most unreached people group in the city of Charlotte – young, urban professionals. When we first started Hope 32.5% of young urban professionals claimed “no faith involvement” and 80% of males in their 20’s “hadn’t been to a church in over a year.” Those numbers have actually risen since then.

Hope’s Generosity Initiative

Hope Church exists for you to encounter God, experience hope, engage in mission, and excel in love. I am thankful and feel privileged to be part of such a community, and I hope that you will make plans to join us for worship. You also may be surprised by how honest we are about our struggles and doubts as believers.

Real people

Hello, I am Randy Hart and I have been blessed with the incredible privilege of serving as Worship Director here at Hope Church of Metrolina. My journey in this role has been filled with awe, gratitude and a deep sense of purpose. Growing up in Kannapolis Nc I was taught to play guitar at a young age by my grandfather. Later in my teenage years I had the privilege of playing guitar in a youth band and eventually leading worship in church services and in a Christian band. I have a desire to simply to lead others in the worship of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

To learn more about our plans for expanding Hope’s mission and vision and to learn how you can be part of that, please check out our Hope Overflowing initiative. Simply put…we don’t have all the flash/smoke/mirrors/performances that others have. We don’t have the best programs for children/youth/singles/adults/seniors that others have – and we don’t have the fanciest facilities that others have.

looking to the real Jesus

Additionally, HOPE has developed a partnership with a mission in Mozambique & Uganda, Africa where he has lead (5) five separate summer mission trips. He’s a Pastor’s Pastor, working both locally and internationally to help support, love, encourage, sharpen other Pastors. Matt was born and raised in the small farming town of Mullins, SC.

God has used these two elements– Gospel Community and Gospel Preaching– to change people in remarkable ways. Outside of Sunday morning corporate worship, the main place this type of community is fostered is in our community groups. Community groups meet during the week, usually 3x per month, and are the heart and soul of where real change happens at Hope.

South End Congregation

Worship at Hope is a lifestyle that is lived out in spirit and truth with every opportunity presented. Worship is offering all that I know of me to all that I know of Him. It reveals the inner heart and the recognized value that we place upon God in our lives.

See Our Vision

We believe that the Bible doesn’t merely contain the message of the Gospel but also reflects the methods God wants us to employ as we share it with others. One thing that’s easy to miss about the Bible is how vulnerable its writers are about their own struggles. Following their example, we seek to be a congregation of Real People Looking to the Real Jesus for Real Change. Watch this video to learn more about our plan to expand Hope's mission.

Growing up, most of his time was spent playing sports or hunting with his dad and 2 brothers. He grew up in the church but did not understand the gospel of grace and as a result he didn’t love Jesus (or anyone else) half as much as he loved himself. The elders, deacons, women’s shepherding team members, and staff within each congregation come together to form a Congregational Care Team. From our Sunday gatherings to the HOPE Street Food Pantry, HOPE is a place where questions are met with truth, lives are changed by kindness, and grace is revealed in all we say and do. Those involved in the Music & Worship Department have the opportunity to use their talents to worship God and to lead others in worship as well. We want to be a source of encouragement, a source of hope, a source of peace, a source of joy, a source of inspiration…and we want to do that while pointing each worshiper to the ultimate source…Jesus Christ.

Being able to see others worship and develop a relationship with the living God is one of my greatest joys. I am also privileged to mentor and teach young people how to lead worship and understand what worship really is with the goal that they will become worship leaders in the future. I have had the privilege of witnessing countless moments of transformation during worship where people find healing and a deeper connection in their relationship with our heavenly father.

It is a humbling experience and I often find myself in awe of the beauty of those moments. I’m constantly learning and seeking to grow in my relationship with God and striving to be a better servant. Worship at Hope is more than music, more than a gathering, more than brief moments together in a service.

A life-giving church in north Charlotte with a vision to build community, strengthen families and establish devoted followers of Christ. Hear from our some of our members on how they have been impacted by the community at Hope. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to and hope to continue to be a church of real people looking to the real Jesus for real change. At their General Convention in uptown Charlotte Thursday, delegates from churches all over the world voted to allow different geographic regions to make their own rules about ministry. Called “regionalization,” it’s seen as a possible first step for Methodist congregations in the U.S. to remove long-standing bans on same-sex marriage and openly gay clergy. Pastor has traveled extensively international (4-6) four to six mission trips annually, leading Pastor Conferences, in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, and Africa.

It is an attitude that we carry with us day by day, an attitude of genuine praise to God. It is fueled by corporate worship, the times we gather together. God has graciously continued to grow us as a community of people who are real with one another – real about our fears, our dreams, our failures, and our need for a redeemer. Every Sunday morning, the person and work of Jesus is preached with vulnerability and honesty.

Main Menu

The kitchen utilizes farm-to-table ingredients when it’s possible and creates dishes that highlight locally grown goods. Ask any native to Charlotte where you can find the best fried chicken and more likely than not they will direct you to Price’s. Opened in 1962, Price’s has been serving their famous fried chicken to the South End area for years. One way to experience Charlotte is through your stomach – by that, we mean the food.

Menu

King’s serves up their fried chicken skillet-style for an authentic southern flavor. Instead of dining in, Horace’s is a delivery and pick up only only, hot fried chicken restaurant. Everything is homemade and created through the vision of Horace, who was cooking in the Charlotte area for over 20 years. The seasonings offered at the restaurant are all made in-house, which truly sets this spot apart from the rest in Charlotte. You can experience many variations of fried chicken through the seasonings alone, but you’ll find that variation in the type of cuisine you’re trying at Mert’s too.

Southern Cooking

This is a take business they do have on table but the business is takeout. We had someone recommend it and yes this is the best kept secret in Charlotte well not really a secret because they were busy. The people here are super friendly and accommodating if I lived there I would be sure to visit often. With locations in Statesville and Cambridge, Mr. Charles has been serving (you guessed it) fried chicken and fish to the Charlotte community for years.

The Queen City is home to world-class cuisine and food that feels comfortably nostalgic. My husband and I had the most awful fish from here today. The fish was thin curled up and was like rubber that cost $19/a dinner. It will be a long time before we ever go back to this place.

This family-owned business does not hold back on loading your plate with classic soul food selections, like their fried chicken. Established in 2011, Nana Morrison’s has been making people feel welcomed in their casual atmosphere perfect for families. The restaurant’s low-key atmosphere amplifies the delicious options on the menu – from some of the best fried chicken sandwiches to fish platters, this family-owned establishment doesn’t disappoint. The menu is simple and allows for the kitchen to perfect their execution of what’s available on the menu. Their fried chicken has a great ratio of crunch on the outside and juiciness on the inside – pair it with their housemate mac and cheese and you’re in for a treat. The trendy yet casual space of the establishment matches the fried chicken option that has a special twist.

This is one of the few quality fried chicken chains in the US. The Korean flavors and seasonings elevate traditional fried chicken to a global, gourmet level. On the edge of tradition and innovation, the King’s Kitchen serves up French cuisine with a Southern twist.

We could only eat the vegetables cause the fish was curled and hard. South 21’s golden fried chicken is hand battered and cooked to order. Nana’s also serves up vegan options for vegetarian and vegan travelers.

It’s clear that Charlotte has many options when it comes to chowing down on fried chicken. We hope our list gave you a variety of traditional family recipes to some innovative takes on the classic dish. If you want to eat really good fried chicken in a trendy roadhouse atmosphere, Leroy Fox’s is the spot to try.

Very courteous staff at the gate and excellent assistance with my needs as a handicapped person on board. The flight itself was uncomfortable, with tight seating and seats they don’t recline, so be aware. The aircraft itself is old and worn, and it shook a lot and made a lot of noise, especially upon takeoff and at landing. But, hey it’s a short flight and it got me back home to Florida safely, so…. I think the seats on some of their planes are uncomfortable.

I’d spent months building connections, making sure I had my latest ID and had gotten a passport so I could book international work. I’d made a living out of my sexuality, and an HIV diagnosis seemed decidedly unsexy. I had no idea it would be so simple, or that I had already taken one of the pills, Truvada, for PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis).

A 2015 study reported that as high as 40-47% of us have traded sex to survive. I’ve come out as gay, as trans, as a sex worker. Also, MyFreeCams hosted most of the awards, which is a great cam site if you’re a cis female, but if you’re a trans performer or a man—basically anybody with a penis—you’re not allowed on MyFreeCams. So it’s a lot of posturing and peacocking to appear more inclusive, but as an industry we still have a long way to go. I always have seen myself being a hands-on type of person. If I wasn’t doing this I’d be a taxidermist or a hazmat removal person where I have my hands in the muck, which is just where I like to be.

I love doing taxes, but I don’t really like telling [people] how much they owe. I was living in the Bay Area at that point, and I started looking at different companies I could shoot for. I didn’t have an agent, so I was just bothering anybody I could. I was one of those people who discovered the internet a little too early and got really curious with Googling. ” I was always really queer from a young age, but not knowing there was a word for that.

Life

Charlotte Sartre and April O'Neil have both been stood up by their dates and the girls laugh it off by adding how dumb men can sometimes be. It's pretty clear at this point that they're flirting with each other. Studies have shown that even missing periodic doses doesn’t stop the drugs from being effective ― so-called “viral blips” may show how sensitive testing is, but don’t indicate transmissibility. It’s best to always take your meds on schedule, but worth being reassured that these edge cases have been studied in depth. It could take several weeks for levels to become detectable after going off medication. I had so much going on in my head pre-diagnosis.

Literally I have never heard a Good Charlotte song. How has social media helped you grow your fanbase? One thing that gave me a slight advantage was I kept my same Twitter and Instagram from when I was in high school.

You can see their tweets, see if they’ve been having any meltdowns or rants. People will say anything online, and it kind of gives you a feel of what the person’s personality is like. If I see a director I might want to shoot for, I can just message them. Maya Woulfe is a mid 20’s multi-media artist living in Los Angeles.

Uneducated fear about HIV is so strong that many studios won’t book male talent for “straight” scenes if they have done any gay or trans scenes, a de facto ban on so-called “crossover” performers regardless of testing status. It’s a myth that bisexual men “spread HIV.” Trans performers are especially stigmatized. What do you think allowed you to grow your audience so fast? I believe in the early 2000s and ’90s, when social media wasn’t as prevalent as it is today, agents were more of a necessity. As a producer, my partner and I book people for our productions sometimes. You can look at their Twitter, and usually in their bio they’ll say that they’re self-booking, or contact my agent.

This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the day. However, there are some dining options that are not included in the cruise price, such as dining in specialty restaurants, room service, and some beverages. Your Royal Caribbean cruise fare includes a variety of amenities and activities. However, it’s essential to note that while many activities are included, there are certain ones that come with an added fee. While a majority come without any charge, guests can indulge in pool games, movies, trivia sessions, dance classes, and even scavenger hunts.

The daily Cruise Compass or the Royal Caribbean app provides a comprehensive schedule of the activities onboard. Beyond that, from 10 pm to 2 am, there’s a group sitting service available, which comes with a fee of $7/hour per child. The breakdown of this charge can be reviewed on the purchase receipt. These gratuities are automatically added to a guest’s onboard account, which the cruise line then uses to distribute to crew members.

Things To Do In Lake George: Attractions, Golf, Shopping, Cruises & More

lake george cruise

The Mountaineer ran successfully for 13 years until 1836 when she was retired and allowed to slowly rot and sink in Ticonderoga Creek. By the mid 1860’s it was clear that the Minne Ha Ha (I) couldn’t handle the increase in business and traffic from people arriving to Lake George by way of trains (first tracks built into Lake George came in 1882). The decision came that there needed to be another ship in the fleet to accommodate all these people, and thus in 1869 the Ganouskie was completed. The Ganouskie was the smallest ship ever to sail in the Company’s 199 year history. She was only 72 feet long and weighed 67 tons (the Mohican weighs 200 tons). This propeller was initially fired by a wood burner boiler, but then in 1877 new grates were made so she could burn coal instead. The Ganouskie’s job was to carry up to 50 people southward while the Minne Ha Ha (I) carried them northward. In 1870 the Ganouskie started to transport mail and other small packages.

THE ADIRONDAC

The Sagamore was originally 203 feet long, 57.5 feet wide, drew 7 feet of water, and weighed 1,125 tons. She was the first steel-hulled ship to ply the waters of Lake George. But later on that year it was determined that the ship was too top heavy and wide. So after the season she was taken up to Baldwin, hauled out and cut into 2 pieces; 20 feet was added to her midships, bringing her to the grand total length of 223 feet.During her years of service the Sagamore would offer quite a deal. For only $1.50 the Sagamore would take you from Caldwell (Lake George Village) and stop at all the hotels and landings around the lake, for another buck you would be served a fine meal along the journey. But the Sagamore’s life wasn’t always so cheery. On Friday July 1, 1927 the Sagamore became lost in a very dense fog.

Our long-standing family tradition is simple:

The Mohican also had her wooden super structure remodeled in the early 1950’s to have a new “modern” stream-line look. She kept this look until the late 1950’s, until her wooden super structure was once again changed again to accommodate increased passenger numbers. But this was not the last time the Mohican changed her looks, she had another and final renovation to her made in the winter of 1966. The Minne Ha Ha carried people along the southern basin of Lake George faithfully for 26 years before a change was needed to be made. In the later 1990’s it was apparent that the Minne Ha Ha needed to be changed, her hour long trip was really gaining in popularity and the numbers riding her reflected that. Something would have to be done in order to accommodate the growing number of people wanting to ride her trip.

Lake George Cruises & Boat Tours for Sightseeing & Enjoying the Lake

Whether you want to hear about the history of Lake George, make a swimming stop, or you're looking for a full steamboat cruise, you can find it on Lake George. In the 1970’s there appeared on Lake George a demand for a vessel which could service conventions, large groups wishing first-class food service, and moonlight sailing offering entertainment. The Steamboat Company determined to begin construction on a new boat at its Baldwin Shipyard. The first commercially successful steamboat service in America was inaugurated by Robert Fulton. His steam-powered paddle boat, the Clermont, sailed up the Hudson River from New York City to Albany, arriving at the state capitol on August 19, 1807 after 32 hours running time. Established in 1817, the Lake George Steamboat Company has been operating on Lake George for over 200 years.

About the Boat: Horicon

After all of this the Minne was launched on December 21, 1997 and towed down to the Steel Pier in Lake George Village. Here she had her superstructure added as well as other changes completed (i.e. handicapped elevator from her first deck to her second deck). In May of 1998 she was ready for carrying passengers once again, ready to accommodate all of them and their needs. The first steamship, the James Caldwell, started plying the waters under our banner in 1817. She had a wooden hull, primitive steam engines and was able to steam to the other end of the lake in about 8 hours (the present day Mohican can make it in just under 3 hours). As time rolled on, steam technology and ship building practices allowed for the building of larger and faster wooden hulled ships.

On April 15, 1817 a company was incorporated by the New York State Legislature to operate commercial shipping on Lake George. The title given this company was the Lake George Steamboat Company.

In 1996 it was decided that the Minne would be lengthened by 34 feet as well as a couple other changes to her super structure. On September 10, 1997 the Minne Ha Ha was dry docked and then cut exactly in half and had her 2 halves separated by 34 feet. Then the crews started to add deck plates and other various parts in the center to connect the two halves. The crews also reshaped the bow of the Minne to make it more pointed and hydrodynamic.

The 190 foot long Lac du Saint Sacrement is the largest cruise ship on the inland waters of New York State. She offers two-hour sightseeing, luncheon and dinner cruises. On Sundays, a Champagne Brunch cruise is also offered and is a real favorite! Entertainment and narration are both included aboard our Saint Sacrement meal cruises. Lake George is the crown jewel of Adirondack waters, and a ride on a boat cruise is the most cherished way to take in all 32-miles of the lake.

She will seat 200 for fine dining on the first deck with a potential for 200 for dining on the second deck. The atrium opens up to expose the second deck to the sun and stars. On the third deck you will find a bridal room that can also serve as a private dining room. The design of the new vessel needed to be one which would comply with modern safety regulations while still reflecting the traditions of eastern steamboating.

In 1947, a maritime lawyer from New York City, Captain Wilbur Dow acquired the Steamboat Company. He again renovated the Mohican in 1967, built the sternwheeler Minne-Ha-Ha in 1969 and, following an eleven-year construction effort, placed the Lac du Saint Sacrement in service in 1989. Following the Civil War, through a series of transportation consolidations, the Steamboat Company became part of the Delaware and Hudson Railroad System, serving as a link in that company’s New York City to Canada operations. In 1882 a railroad branch was built between Glens Falls and Lake George. Passengers would step off the train at the still-existing railroad station (across the street from the Steel Pier and built in 1911) and onto the steamers for the trip up the lake to Ticonderoga.

In 1910 the company built the 2nd Horicon up at its dry dock in Baldwin (2 miles south of Ticonderoga). She was the longest and fastest passenger-carrying vessel ever to sail on Lake George. Her two twin boilers (lobster return type) with a 10 foot piston stroke powered her walking beam engine with 1280 horsepower, this propelled her and her (max capacity) 1,500 possible passengers to a speed of 21 mph! A truly magnificent vessel, but she gets better. She had an elegant dining room, a saloon, and several small cabins built on her decks. In the 1920’s she was even modified to carry small automobiles between landings in the stern section of her first deck. The Ticonderoga was the first of only 2 Lake George Steamboat Company ships to not be built on Lake George.

This engine and her design helped her to achieve speeds of 12 mph.She operated daily round trips from the Lake House Dock in Lake George Village to Ticonderoga. She would leave every day from Lake George at 8 am and journey up the lake to Ticonderoga. In Ticonderoga, she would remain at the dock for 3.5 hours so her passengers could take a horse and carriage to the old ruins of Fort Ticonderoga where they would get out to walk around and view the ruins. They were then transported back to the boat which would leave Ticonderoga at 3 pm and steam back south to Caldwell. After only 10 years of service, the William Caldwell was already showing signs of deterioration.

She earned her battle ribbons sailing in the Pacific during the final year of WWII. After the war she was sailed to Brooklyn Navy Yard and retired at anchor on July 16th, 1947. The company then purchased her from the Navy in 1949 for $11,000.She was sailed up the Hudson River, through the Champlain Canal, and into Lake Champlain. She sailed to a point near Ticonderoga and at this point she was then cut into 4 sections and moved 5 miles overland to the company’s dry dock in Baldwin on Lake George. When she arrived at Baldwin, she was reassembled for a cost of $250,000 (a cost of $2.4 million in today’s money) as a passenger vessel. The Vessel, renamed the “Ticonderoga”, was launched in Lake George in October of 1950.The Ticonderoga (II) was 168 feet long and 25.5 feet wide and she displaced roughly 360 tons of water (which is equal to the overall weight of the ship).

Vacationers, especially those with children, expressed interest in shorter trips, but the Steamboat Company’s existing boats, the Mohican and Ticonderoga, could not be diverted to hourly runs. Company President Wilbur Dow believed that the new vessel should be an attraction in itself and should employ steam propulsion. Logically, a steamer might follow the side-wheel tradition of the old lake boats.

Check with the cruise line before boarding to see whether or not they allow guests to bring their own bottles. Yes you can take bottled water from your cabin off the cruise for excursions. Just remember to label it clearly so that no one gets confused about where it came from.

This maintenance is significantly easier for the crew to accomplish on dry land than when the ship is in the water. Ships look top-heavy, but they are engineered to stay afloat and keep from capsizing. The CDC logged 14 cruise ship outbreaks that met its threshold for public notification in 2023, more than any year between 2017 and 2019. Once everything is complete, the gates to the dry dock are opened and water from the sea is allowed to flood in. This is no mean feat for a cruise ship that once complete has a gross tonnage of 236,857. Viking Star was Viking Cruises’ first ocean vessel Viking Star which has a gross tonnage of 47,842 and a 4912 deadweight tonnage with a capacity for 930 passengers.

That’s (just) less than $1 a bottle, and probably less than you’d pay ashore in some places! So if you’re determined to drink bottled water, rather than drinking from the tap, it’s worth checking this out. From here the seawater is further filtered by the sand filters, which are usually two in number. They are effective in the removal of solid particles and micro-organisms from the water. Sand filters themselves require backwashing by either seawater or fresh water at least once a day when the plant is operational or before shutdown. There are many important differences in cruise ships and Ocean Liner design.

I Spent 7 Days on My First Adults-Only Virgin Voyages Cruise

The one place on a ship where I wouldn’t recommend drinking the water is the taps in the handwashing stations and public bathrooms. A refillable water bottle is definitely a must-pack item for any cruise though. You can fill it up before you go to bed to drink in the night, take it to the gym or running track and also take it with you on excursions. As long as you aren’t putting the part of the bottle where you’ve been drinking next to the water dispenser, you should be OK. Your ship will have water dispensers in the buffet restaurant, and potentially other locations around the ship too.

The bottom, however, is not quite as flat close to the bow or at a raised area located where the propellers lie close to the stern. They move fluidly through the sea; however, the water resistance makes it slower. These ships can only sail at a top speed for so long before the engine power reaches points of diminishing returns. The requirements for smoothness and stability will always override high speeds, making this type of hull the best fit for a cruise ship. When examining a cruise ship out of the water, people wonder how such a small percentage of the vessel can be submerged while the rest of the ship towers above and stays afloat.

Most cruise lines prefer to stick with the tried and true method of providing clean drinking water. In fact, some cruise lines even provide bottled water in addition to filtered tap water. Others allow passengers to purchase drinks directly from vendors located near the buffet areas. In summary, the importance of water storage on cruise ships cannot be overstated.

Cruise ships stay afloat because they have a U-shaped hull that displaces water outwards and downwards. As the water tries to fill this space, the energy pushes the ship upwards. In all, 14 of MSC Cruises' 22 vessels now have at least one waterslide on their top decks. In addition to AquaDuck, the two Disney ships with the attraction (Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream) have a relatively small, kid-friendly waterslide next to the centrally located Mickey's Pool. Dubbed Mickey's Slide, it's held up by a giant Mickey hand, which is delightful.

These take the form of extending fins that rotate and are able to impart a righting force when the vessel is moving ahead. Added to Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas in 2019, it's a seemingly endless stretch of yellow and orange tubing that winds around the back deck of the vessel like a snake. Big lines that have steered clear of the water-park-at-sea trend include Princess Cruises, Holland America and Celebrity Cruises. Geared more toward couples than families and typically drawing an older demographic, all three of these lines have stuck to a more subdued feel for the outdoor areas of their ships. The top decks of vessels operated by Princess, Holland America and Celebrity still mostly revolve around traditional swimming areas with pools, hot tubs and lounge chairs.

This method is the same for home filtration systems, only on a larger scale. It is not surprising to most people to note that cruise ships make their own drinking water. Ships are out at sea, so it makes sense that they would do this when you consider what seawater is composed of. We discuss how cruise ships process water that is safe to drink and proactively protect the environment. The hull, the body of a cruise ship below its main deck, is wide and contains deep baselines. Large vessels like cruise ships usually have displacement hulls that push water out of the ship’s way.

Displacement hulls with a round bottom appear like large rectangles with rounded edges. They work to dissipate any force or drag exerted against the ship. Rounded edges decrease the water’s force against its hull, permitting larger, weightier ships to move smoothly. Taking a ship out of water is known as dry docking; when the ship sails into its shipyard, the water is drained from the dock area allowing its workers to make repairs or inspect it in a dry area.

A typical flash evaporator working process is shown in the below illustration. Usually, there are 4 or 5 main Diesel Generators on a passenger ship out of which 2 or 3 are placed in the forward engine compartment and the rest in the aft. In case of non-availability of one of the engine rooms, the other can be used to provide adequate propulsion power (diesel-electric) to the ship and enable it to reach port safely.

Epic Plunge is part of Norwegian Epic's Aqua Park, the first water park on a Norwegian ship. Norwegian has since added Aqua Parks to six more new vessels, including its biggest ship, the 4-year-old Norwegian Encore. Indeed, on all Carnival ships, there's now not just a single waterslide but a whole water park area. When it comes to waterslides on ships, cruise giant Carnival is still the undisputed king.

Most cruises start off by visiting ports all across the globe. During these stops, crew members refill the water supply before continuing on towards the next destination. Some cruise lines do this automatically, while others require passengers to request refills. Either way, once the ship reaches its final destination, the water supply is replenished again.

Carnival, the so-called Fun Ship line, would go on to become the early leader in waterslides at sea. The 2,056-passenger Carnival Fantasy, which debuted in 1990, was the first cruise ship with a significant waterslide. By purchasing the beverage package, I knew what I’d walk off the ship owing, barring extra purchases like shore excursions, spa treatments and the like. I’ve been on some cruises where I’ve looked at my onboard account statement and thought, “Jeez, I should have bought the drink package.” This wouldn’t be that cruise.

A cruise ship will bring fresh water onboard when they visit ports. This water is used for laundry, as ballast, or to cool the engines. Water used for drinking is usually taken from seawater undergoing a desalination process. Cruise ships have a complex system in place to ensure the availability of a constant supply of fresh water that is safe for human consumption.

The ship will also feature the 40,000 gallon Royal Bay pool, the largest pool ever on a cruise ship. Most cruise ships will try to avoid stormy weather and may slow down or change their route to do so, Ocean Liners are less likely to have to do this. That said, cruise ships still sail at around 20 knots, which is almost 25 miles per hour. We will also explore why the bottom of cruise ships are different to the bottom of Ocean Liners. In this article, we will look at how the bottom of cruise ships are shaped – and why they are shaped like this. But perhaps the most striking aspect of a cruise ship out of water is its vulnerability.
